I bought this for my son and his 3 boys. Im sure you can lay it over grass but I would imagine it will kill the grass eventually. They really love it.

We use this baseball mat on concrete floor that is in our indoor batting cage, and is awesome. It came three days after I ordered it even without express shipping being requested.  This mat will hold up and does not slip or move on the smooth concrete floor of this indoor cage. Great 5mm cushion and the turf lines and plate stand out.

it can be used over grass (the grass will die of course). We built a 2” high wooden platform for underneath to create a flatter base. We also use them on our concrete batting cages
